Family, friends, acquaintances or even strangers - everyone seems to have an opinion when it comes to the choices WE make in OUR lives. And we're all guilty of caring about it. It's in our nature to want to be liked and to seek approval.
But when you get sensitive to the point where you don't take a stand out of fear of alienating or offending others, it's bad. You find yourself tip toeing your way through life by doing things in order to please others - not because it's what you believe in.
If you have had enough of it, then watch this video. It's 3 life-changing minutes. Trust me, that's all you'll need.
Meet Em Ford, a girl who's guilty no matter what she does with her face
Em is the author of a makeup blog MyPaleSkin. She suffers from acne and she's great at covering them with makeup.
One would think good for her, she found a way to deal with her problem - right?
But no.
She got a ton of messages from people all around the world who thank her, congratulate her - but also a ton of messages from people shaming her for wearing makeup.
Then, at one point she started publishing her photos with no makeup.
Take a look at the video she made about that entire experience. If nothing was able to make you realize just how much trying to please others is an impossible mission - and one that you should give up on ASAP and just live your life - this will:
Em's message is this:
You are beautiful - no matter how flawed you feel, no matter how upset you may be about the way you look or how hard you find it to make friends, or be confident. Believe in yourself and never let anyone tell you're not beautiful - not even yourself.
It's not the issue of wearing or not wearing makeup. It's about understanding that everyone is allowed to have an opinion (and often unfortunatelly, to express it), but it's up to us to stop caring as much about what others may think.
That's the only way we'll ever move forward.
